Best Qigong Exercises For Knee Pain
by Marcus
Knee pain is quite common, so which chi kung/qigong exercises are best for overcoming it?
Let’s start by saying that knee pain is often a result of problems with the Kidneys (from a TCM point of view). So any of the qigong exercises that are known to specifically work on the kidney meridian would be a good place to start. Can you think of one? That’s right – Reverse Hands Bend Waist, more popularly known as Nourishing Kidneys.
So what other qigong exercises might we try? Well I found that when I was practicing what I thought was Tai Chi and PaKua (back in the early 90’s) I rapidly got a lot of knee pain. Why? Because I was moving between stances incorrectly. Divine Crane Starts Dancing and Lift Heels Bend Knees would be beneficial qigong exercises in this example – as long as my knee pain wasn’t exacerbated y these movements.
If in doubt there is one qigong exercise that stands head and shoulders above all the other qigong exercises if you have knee pain and that is Divine Crane Rotates Knees. This qigong exercise is so powerful at overcoming knee pain, that it is one of the very few qigong exercises that will give you worthwhile benefits, even when practiced at the level of qigong form. Obviously it is preferable that you practice it as qigong though, as the results will be better and faster.
The qigong exercises Nourishing Kidneys, Divine Crane Starts Dancing, Lift Heels Bend Knees and Divine Crane Rotates Knees are covered in great detail in my Qigong Secrets Home Study course – weeks 13, 15, 21 and 22 respectfully.
If you’d like to know what qigong exercises are best for a particular ‘symptom’ you may have please feel free to ask in the comments box below. But when if doubt remember that all pain, illness, disease etc, whatever label we give the symptoms is caused by blockages to the smooth flow of energy/qi/chi through the meridians. Therefore Both Hands Lift The Sky and Look Back To Carry The Moon are always going to be beneficial as Lifting the Sky is brilliant for generating energy flow and Carry the Moon is brilliant for cleansing.
