Homeopathy-18: Tendencies, Diathesis, Susceptibility and Predisposition

Homeopathy’s greatness can be understood if one just goes through the Homeopathic Maeria Medica.  One often finds words like TENDENCY, SUSCEPTIBILITY and PREDISPOSITION to a particular disease or condition; also DIATHESIS, which also means the same thing.  When one analyses these deeply and carefully, one realizes more often than not they are chronic and genetic in origin.  When it is said a remedy can cure a tendency, it means that the particular remedy is capable of acting genetically and root out the tendency and disease.  Lots of money is being spent on Genetic Medicine.  But we already have a system which has the ability to tackle genetic conditions.  Is it not wonderful? 

I plan to reproduce from the Homeopathic Materia Medica such tendencies and the remedies that could tackle them, provided the symptoms match.

It is better here to keep in mind,  aphorism 153 of Hahnemann’s Organon of Medicine, which in essence is as follows:

…the MORE STRIKING, SINGULAR, UNCOMMON AND PECULIAR (characteristic) signs and symptoms of the case of disease are chiefly and most solely to be kept in view; for it is MOREPARTICULARLY THESE THAT VERY SIMILAR ONES IN THE LIST OF SYMPTOMS OF THE SELECTED MEDICINE MUST CORRESPOND TO, in order to constitute it the most suitable for effecting the cure. …

So what is a symptom?  What is RARE, UNCOMMON, PECULIAR, MORE STRIKING  and STRANGE is a symptom.  So matching purposes, let us not confuse pathological or clinical symptoms.

Here is the first one:

INCREASED SUSCEPTIBILITY TO COLD-

The remedy for this could be  ACETANILIDUM.  A moment of caution.  This susceptibility or tendency to take cold is there in some other medicines also.  So we have more than one remedy for tackling the Tendency to take cold.
